SIMPLE EVERY DAY DISHES

FOO YEE FRIED COS LETTUCE.Foo yee is a fermented bean curd you can buy in bottles in most chinese shops.
For this dish, you need 2 cubes of foo yee, mash in a bowl, add sugar to taste, a dash of soy sauce, a dash of chinese wine, some veg. seasoning.
500grms cos lettuce.
5 chopped garlic, a sliced chilly
Heat the wok, add oil, then fry garlic, add in the lettuce, stir well, add in the foo yee and serve with steam rice.
TIP.
This dish is best cooked the last min. because lettuce when cooked changes colour quickly.


BOILED EGGS SAMBAL.

Get your rempah ready.(you can find this sambal rempah in my previous post)

some assam water or lemon juice.

Slice up one big onion, 1 tomato, cut in cubes.

Hard boil 6 eggs, then fry till the white is brown.

Fry onion, rempah , then add in eggs, tomato and assam water , add sugar and salt to taste.

Serve with steam rice.


FRIED RICE CAKE WITH PORK AND BEEF.

Some people call this white rice cake or shanghai rice cake. You can buy this in most chinese shops and found in the freezer. Now they have fresh packets on the counter.

Cut up pork and beef, season with pepper, salt, sugar, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, chinese wine, oyster sauce. corn flour.

Cut chinese mustard( choy sum) chinese caggage( wong apak) slice some carrots thinly.

Chop garlic, fry in oil, add meat, when cooked add veg. then the rice cake ( boil in water), stir well, serve with sliced chilly.

TIP

Boil a pot of water, add in the rice cakes, boil 2 mins. remove, drain. Run under a cold tap 3 mins. shake it well or they'll stick together. This can also be serve in a soup base.
